This is an exciting find.  There is a clinical trial going on right now about the use of chinese herbs for lymphedema.

Chinese medicine has long provided holistic options to treat diseases deemed “untreatable” in conventional medicine.  If you’ve read my blog, you may have seen that I’ve had great results dramatically reducing my lower leg (primary) lymphedema with Chinese medicine and a plant-based diet.  So much so that I no longer need to wear compression stockings or elevate every day.  While I’m sure I’ll have to repeat the treatment in the future, I think there is something significant here that can potentially help alot of us with this condition.

So I was very excited to see some formal testing of chinese herbs for lymphedema.  This test is occuring in China, but appears to be quite well-organized and involves 200 patients.  Per the documentation, it is a trial to verify the efficacy and safety of a formulation called Wuling San over a placebo.  The trial itself is structured as a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, multicentre trial.

I’ll be watching this closely and will keep you up to date on what I can find out.

In the meantime:
